As you can see from the post below, I was up early and shot the moon. Well since tonight was a full moon I thought I would give it another try. Here you go:

So, 3:30 Am I’m awake. Typical. A couple of minutes on the PC, take a peek out the window and there is the moon. What the heck. Never really shot the moon before so here is the first real try ever…

The 2011 Arizona Balloon Classic was this weekend at Wild Horse Pass. I went over Saturday morning early for the first wave. Never done balloon images before. Here are few:

Desert Botanical Gardens

Written by Joseph on November 16th, 2011

Made a trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens yesterday. David Rogers’ Big Bugs, the Garden, provides a look at insect predators, pollinators and beneficial critters. These 11 enormous, whimsical bugs have created quite a buzz! Sculptor David Rogers has carefully created these creatures from fallen or found wood, cut saplings, twigs, raw branches, twine, bark and other natural materials. The sculptures weigh from 300 to 1,200 pounds and range from seven feet to 25 feet long. I’ve captured two here:

These ants are a kick. There are three of them on the hill and they have been placed in such a way to look like an old 60’s B movie. Attack of the giant ants!

Wrap It Up at the Beach Boardwalk

Written by Joseph on October 16th, 2011

Ok, vacation is about done and it wouldn’t be complete without the afternoon at the Beach Boardwalk.  Another one of those traditions if you know what I mean. So here you go…

The Mother Bear in all her glory:

Although not one of the “big” attractions such as the Giant Dipper, Lauren makes it a habit of going on the kiddie dragon ride. I think her and Ryan are hamming it up a bit:

Berg’s Beach Bungalow

Not sure if I have ever taken a real photo out front at Berg’s Beach Bungalow, so I gave it a shot.  The image is a nine layer HDR. The amount of HDR toning applied is very slight.  Taken at about 2:00 PM.  You can click the image to view larger.

Feeding Frenzy – Monterey Bay Aquarium

Written by Joseph on October 14th, 2011

Thursday was the Monterey Bay Aquarium for us. We had a rare opportunity to interact with the animals as an aquarist would. Our morning began with a private sea otter feeding and training session. Next we went on “morning rounds” to see where food is prepared and learn what it takes to be an aquarist. We even had a chance to feed some of the exhibit animals in the many aquariums.

I forgot the battery for my camera so these photos where made with Ryan’s point-and-shoot.

It’s become a bit of a family tradition to go for lunch at Bubba Gumps after the aquarium. Although somewhat of a tourist trap its tradition. My food senses will get over it, I’m sure. Here’s Ryan posing as Forrest. Box of chocolates anyone?
