@ryanjbergphoto and I spent an afternoon together learning about food photography including adding light to the project. And then grilling our subjects after our project was finished. I'd seen similar images / style on the wall at one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe, La Boca. We thought we would try something similar to test our skills. This was much more difficult than we had imagined.
In the end our setup included a 30" softbox to the left of the image, slightly higher and tilted down as key and from the general direction of the camera another flash turned way down for fill. Our modifier on the fill flash was a DIY version of the MAGMOD MAGBOUNCE.
I think what we did together turned out pretty good and we were able to spend some quality time together. Check out the results for yourself. One image is pretty straight forward, the other that is slightly washed out was my attempt at a film look.
Always great to share!
