Here is a coronavirus / quarantine, never before seen image set from May 18, 2018 of Union32 at The Nash Jazz Club.
Led by Dr. Brett Reed (vibraphone) Union32 explores the rich musical traditions of various jazz composers and genres. Whether playing the music of west coast jazz giants like Cal Tjader and Dave Brubeck or creating original jazz arrangements of The Stones iconic Sticky Fingers record, Union32 presents vibrant and thrilling instrumental jazz music.
The revered ambiance of Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama is the birth place of The Stones 1971 album, Sticky Fingers. Drawn there by the power of the R&B records that were flowing out of that studio the band ultimately would craft a wide ranging collection of tunes, from the country inspired Wild Horses to the gut punch that is Brown Sugar. Union32’s look at this iconic album visits every tune, painting with broader brushes – more introspective and concerned with ambience than the originals bar room brawling style.
Keith Kelly - tenor saxophone, Adam Roberts - saxophone, Brett Reed - vibraphone, Bailey Zick - bass, Ryan Anthony - drums. Joseph Berg Photography - for the best in live jazz images.
