Mike Vax was honored to be the lead trumpet player for Clark Terry’s Big Bad Band back in the late 1970’s. Clark was a mentor and close friend to Mike for over 40 years. Mike was even the “party planner” for Clark’s 90th and 94th birthday parties. This show at The Nash Jazz Club celebrated music that Clark wrote, recorded and enjoyed playing. There was some great old road stories, as told by Mike, from Clark’s life. It was a wonderful show during the 99th birthday month of one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time.
On the day: Mike Vax - trumpet, Tony Vacca - sax, Howard Alden - guitar, Joel Robin - piano, Selwyn Reams - bass, Ken French - drums and Joseph Berg Photography providing the images of jazz.
