Music City’s signature dish right here in Phoenix. After a bit of Saturday afternoon head scratching about where to grab lunch, someone mentioned Monroe’s. Off we went the five of us. Monroe’s is in the Luhr’s City Center / Luhr’s Tower downtown. Thankfully the menu is short, concise and to the point. I chose the fried chicken sandwich - extra hot (burn baby burn), smoked turkey collard greens and a root beer.
The sandwich and greens were excellent. The chicken was juicy and the brioche bun a perfect accompaniment to the slaw and pickles on top. Collard greens? The smoked turkey really came through without overpowering the greens.
Monroe’s Hot Chicken located at 45 W. Jefferson Street. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Be sure to follow Monroe’s on Instagram.
