NYC-based drummer/composer/teacher Allison Miller engages her deep roots in improvisation as a vehicle to explore all music. Described by critics as a Modern Jazz Icon in the making, Miller has been named “Top 20 Jazz Drummers” in Downbeat Magazine and her composition, Otis Was a Polar Bear, is on NPR’s list of The 200 Greatest Songs by 21st Century Women. Miller is Monterey Jazz Festival’s 2019 Artist in Residence, alongside bassist/producer Derrick Hodge. She is also the first recipient of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Commissioning Grant.

Noah Haidu with Buster Williams and Lewis Nash

For his debut at The Nash, Noah Haidu performed music from both of his recent albums DOCTONE and SLOWLY: Song for Keith Jarrett. He was joined by the all-star rhythm section of bassist Buster Williams who played on SLOWLY and drummer Lewis Nash. Williams is known for his tenure with the likes of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Kenny Barron, and Sarah Vaughn.

On the evening: Noah Haidu - piano, Buster Williams - bass and Lewis Nash - drums.

Noah was named a Rising Star by Downbeat Magazine and JazzTimes, while New York Times writer Giovanni Russonello described him as “A performer with focus and vision.” His ambitious 2017 CD release INFINITE DISTANCES (Cellar Live) received 4 ½ stars in Downbeat classifying the album as somewhere between excellent and masterpiece while calling him an “innovative composer.”
